Hildegard Günzel graduated the German Master School for Fashion Design in Munich and worked for many years as a designer in the fashion- and jewelry industries. The dolls of Hildegard Günzel enhance with the most lively skin texture that is given by a wax over coating on the porcelain.
For dressing her enchanting figurines she uses only the most exquisite materials such as real silk, cashmere, expensive brocade and hand embroided materials. Her dolls wear handmade real hair wigs. All accessories of the dolls are elaborate and noble in the making and are indicating her love for detail. For the Wanke Company Hildegard Günzel designed the first reproduction artist dolls that came into the market. On international level she organized doll congresses in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, USA, Canada and many other countries.
In the year 1996 she opened her famous doll museum inside her production plant in Duisburg, Germany. This Museum of Modern Doll Art was dedicated to collectors and doll admirers of her exquisite art that visited her from all over the globe to be her guests. Every year Hildegard Günzel is presenting a new collection of porcelain- and resin dolls in a limited edition. Since the 80’s she is well known at the global trading fairs and exhibitions, as for example the IDEX in the USA, the Nuremberg Toy Fair in Germany, the Maison & Objet in Paris, France and since 1997 in Moscow, Russia.
Now and then she is touring the States for a signing. She is visiting her admires to sign their books and dolls or even invites them to special dinner evenings. Her personal relationship with her admires is very important to her. Hildegard Günzel can look back on more than 40 years of achievements. Every important award was dedicated to her for her outstanding work.
In addition to the US American Awards like the DOTY AWARDS and the DOLLS OF EXCELLENCE she was presented this the JUMEAU AWARD for Lifetime Achievement in 2003 ad well as for the book “Doll Fantasies”. Also in 2003 she was awarded with the DISCOVERY AWARD. Another Lifetime Achivement Award was presented to her by JONES PUBLISHING (USA). In 2010 she was honored with the PANDORA in Moscow, Russia.
